Blog Tour, Excerpt & Giveaway: Bet On Love by A. F. Zoelle
I went to Las Vegas to marry my fiancée but ended up married to my best man instead. Considering I’m straight, I never imagined I would wake up in bed with a husband. We obviously need to get an annulment to undo our mistake. The only problem is, it turns out my feelings for my best friend Luci aren’t quite as platonic as I thought.
What are the odds that my bad idea ends up being the best thing to ever happen to us?
LUCIEN “LUCI” ST. AMOUR
After Rhys and I secretly shared our first kiss as teenagers, I spent years suppressing my confusing feelings for him. But now that he’s my husband, it exposes the truth about the depths of my love for my best friend.
Could I really be lucky enough that he feels the same way about me?
Bet on Love is the first book in the Good Bad Idea series. This novella features a friends to lovers second chance romance. Full of cute sweetness and sexy fun, every story ends with a satisfying HEA and no cliffhangers. Each book can be read as a standalone or as part of the series in order.
When Luci captured my wrist to stop me, our bodies collided against each other, sending my hormones haywire. This close, the heat radiated off him from his shower. He liked them on the hottest setting. He once melted the tub sealant of his second-floor bathroom and caused a leak in the first floor’s ceiling, baffling the repair guy.
The smell of Luci’s body wash was intoxicating. It was a mixture of smoky vanilla and mahogany, with a hint of musk. I responded to it on a primal level that made me want to jump him regardless of how straight I had thought I was. Breathing became a challenge the longer he stared at me with his dark eyes that seared my soul with the desire burning in them.
Being so close was too much temptation to resist. I reached up with my free hand, running over the defined abs that I had been admiring earlier. He inhaled at the unexpected touch as my fingertips traced over the strong planes of his chest. When he didn’t reject me, I decided fuck it, why should I start worrying about consequences now? I entangled my fingers in his wet hair at the base of his neck and guided him down for an intense kiss.
Rather than jerking away, Luci pulled me closer. I yielded to his tongue with a moan, letting him take what he wanted from me. I had never been more turned on in my life as we made out. His towel didn’t hide how aroused he was as his hardness pressed against me. His grip on my wrist tightened, making me whimper. I ached for him to throw me on the bed and take control of my desires.
When we paused for air, he rested his forehead against mine, overwhelmed by the experience. I was the first to speak when I pleaded, “Tell me we can be late and keep going.”
“If we continue, we’ll miss dinner,” Luci said, his voice a dark rumble that sent shivers through me.
I looked up at him with an impish grin. “Promise?”
Luci, short for Lucien and Rhys are really cute together. I just wish it was a tad longer, so that we get a bit more background on the characters. They do take the oblivious bestfriends in love to a whole new level. Everyone already thought they were secretly dating!
It’s a short, sweet and a sexy read. It does have a lot of the cliché tropes but if you’re looking for a quick fun read, it doesn’t matter. I did think it was a bit too dramatic, especially at the end when Luci was being stupid. I mean, really?
There’s also an introduction to characters for the next book. While I usually always end up wanting books for a secondary characters the authors have no plan for, this time around they really could have used a bit of subtlety. But I do think I’ll read the next book because it has fake boyfriends!
Overall it’s a cute bestfriends to lovers story that I wish was longer and a bit more fleshed out.
